A message from Ms. Shannon

Dear FCMA families,

Thank you to all of the students and families who attended our annual community concert last week! My heart light was shining brightly as all of our young musicians bravely entered the stage and performed so confidently. I hope all the students who performed feel very proud of themselves!

We are happy to have found a venue that will accommodate all who want to attend this popular event. I spent time collecting feedback from students, family members, and teachers. We have long lists of what worked well and points for improvement for next year. If you have suggestions, I’d love to hear from you! <shannanhibbard@choiceschools.com>

Please stay tuned for events coming this spring, including our first band concert.

Like many adults do with resolutions, each new year I like to revisit our commitment to studying music at FCMA. Varying by students’ developmental level, our reflections and discussions focus on what music is and why it is important to each of us and in society at large. With this in mind, our Pre-primary and Early Elementary students read a book called “Music Is…” by Brandon Stosuy. Before reading, students answered the sentence individually. Please enjoy a sampling of their insightful answers:

Music is fun

Music is peaceful

Music is everywhere

Music is a rock band

Music is in my heart

Music is dancing

Music is beautiful

Music is on my Mom’s phone

Music is the best

Music is everything.
