March has been an incredibly busy and fruitful month at Four Corners Montessori Academy, and as we look back on everything that happened this month, we wanted to acknowledge our students who were able to attend and participate in the Montessori Model UN 2023 Conference. We would like to extend our dearest gratitude to our authorizer, Oakland University, who financially assisted our students to be a part of this multi-national conference hosted in New York City.
Fifteen students attended in total, all of whom were responsible for writing position papers on various topics reflecting their assigned United Nations country. At the conferences, our students sat in sessions presenting their papers and collaborating with other student delegates from around the world. Each committee worked diligently to create draft resolutions which were then voted on in the General Assembly Hall at the United Nations.
This was an incredible experience for those in attendance, and words cannot express the impact this experience has had on our students, who quickly made friends with their fellow delegates from around the world. These opportunities are few and far between and we can’t thank Oakland University enough for allowing us to bring chances like this to our students.
